****Update 6/23/11: Due to flooding in the park, the run course will be changed for 2011. It will be the same distance but will be a re-routed cross country course in and around Loudy- Simpson.

What:  Come join us for a new three part run-bike-run event next to the Yampa river park "Loudy Simpson" in Craig, Colorado, 42 miles west of Steamboat Springs off of US Highway 40! We are very excited to offer a Duathon in the Steamboat Springs Running Series. The race consists of a 5k run on a cross country course next to the Yampa river and then a 30K road bike course (Mtn. bikes are permitted) composed of two laps around a loop filled with several steep climbs and crossing the Yampa river back to the park. The race then finishes with another 5K run over the previous run course. Individuals or 2 person teams can enter. The solo category is a pointed race in the SSRS points series for 2011.

Race distance: Total 40k or 24.8 miles.  Elevation gain during bike event only.

Registration: PRE REGISTER TO ENSURE A TECH TEE. Pre-register online as an individual or two-person team, online registration only for this event. Registration will shut off on Saturday. Depending on numbers a limited amount of day of registrations might be available.

Where: Loudy Simpson Park on Ranney St in Craig,  Colorado

Time:  8:00 am - June 26th, 2011

What you receive: Prizes for overall winners in the female, male and team categories.   Food and refreshments and a very cool t-shirt to all competitors.

Bike Transition Area: Bikers should bring a thick towel to wrap their bikes when they place them against our bike racks.  Please call ahead of time to learn more about the bike transition area and security of bike equipment.

Lodging: The Best Western / Deer Park Inn & suites  in Craig has a special rate for those wishing to stay in Craig the night before the race.  Their number is 970-824-9282 and they can also register online under Best Western Inns.
